Mitch Zeisler, Age 42

Mitch is responsible for overall success of TUSI, including representation of the organization. Mitch spent 7 years teaching children in Greater Boston and left in 2007 to focus on his company Knuckle Bones, LLC.  Mitch's passion for TUSI came about through his years of traveling, teaching and working at summer camps. This combination provided him with a paradigm that a city's children & youth can be engaged and empowered through experiential, sequential programming. Mitch has his Masters in Elementary Education from the University of Northern Colorado and has B.A. in Sociology from Hofstra University.

Michelle Walk, Age 28

Michelle is responsible for the day-to-day operations of TUSI, including engaging and recruiting representatives in all program areas. Since achieving her Masters of Arts in Biochemistry (2008), she teaches for The Whizkids Foundation, a non-profit that supplements elementary and middle schools' science curriculum in Greater Boston. Having been with the organization for 3 years, she has extensive capabilities in administering supplementary programming. She was drawn to the opportunity at TUSI because she recognizes the lack of successful and meaningful out-of-school programming for young students.

Monique Marshall Veale, Age 43

Monique is responsible for recruiting and organizing the Meaningful Experiences that the Pioneers engage in.  She has over 17 years of experience working with youth and families from various walks of life, cultures, and financial backgrounds. Monique’s primary focus has been in academic and social enrichment for youth between the ages of 5-19.  She has experience in program development and management of youth programs including: academic support, recreational activities, community outreach and aftercare services. In addition, she serves on a variety of community boards that emphasize family involvement, education and community service learning. Monique joined TUSI because the philosophy of TUSI aligns with her commitment to providing youth with valuable experiences and skills for life.

Gayl Crump Swaby, Age 43

Gayl is all about positive youth development for the Pioneers and their families.  She is an exceptional leader and helps TUSI collaborate with experienced educators, staff, and external professionals to ensure youth development within a safe and nurturing environment. She accomplishes this through a multicultural approach while enacting dynamic programming that focuses on youth’s emotional, cognitive, and physical development.  Gayl has over 20 years of experience overseeing programs that promote positive youth development and family engagement. As a part of TUSI she believes it is important to provide youth with opportunities, knowledge and life skills to build a foundation of strong moral character that fosters healthy choices, individual expression, self worth and hope.

Victoria Walsh, Age 24

Victoria Walsh graduated from Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas with a BA in Speech Communication and Spanish.  She is passionate about educational equity and ensuring that all children are given the chance to succeed and reach their full potential.  She became involved with TUSI in October ‘09 and helps with organizing and coordinating various projects.  She hopes to pursue a Masters degree in Public Policy in her future and apply this to educational reform.
